Public Safety
The City of Washington takes public safety very seriously. In fact, a state-of-the-art public safety building was opened in 2008. It houses our
Communications Department, police, and serves as the headquarters for the
Emergency Management Department. This two-story facility includes a secure prisoner drop-off area, five holding cells, a 3,300-square-foot training room, a communications center, a conference room, and a fitness area.
Washington Police Department
The Washington Police Department is a dedicated team of 28 full-time police
officers in the Washington Police Department, supported by a variable reserve
force. The Department's main office is staffed by three full-time civilian employees. Recently, the Washington Police Department successfully completed a rigorous state certification process, achieving status as a State Certified law
enforcement agency. Committed to excellence, the Department takes pride in
serving its citizens and upholding the highest standards in law enforcement. |
